These are tough times, not just for the IT industry but the economy in general, and globalisation has been both the boon and bane. Recession seems to be the buzzword today, and everything that isn’t doing good has been attributed to it. However, I’m of the strong belief that we are the trough of a business cycle, which will be swinging upwards and make way for better times.

That aside, recession isn’t always a bad thing to happen to an economy, it teaches rationalization of resources and gears you  up for better times.

Now, more than ever, we need lessons, perspectives and tools to help us weather the downturn. Experience, as they say, is the best teacher and we want to learn from the gurus on what works and what doesn’t or rather what worked and what didn’t.

Look forward to NASSCOM India Leadership Forum, titled “Shaping the Global Economy“, for exactly these reasons. A cursory glance at the agenda is proof enough; and reads some of the best speakers in the world, ranging from industry doyens, management gurus to change champions. Speakers include C K Prahalad, Narayana Murthy, Shashi Tharoor, John Chambers, Prof. Pankaj Ghemawat.

The event is held over 3 days at the Hyatt, Mumbai and promises to be one of the best leadership conclave in 2009. If you have already registered for the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum, I look forward to meeting you. If you haven’t, hurry before registrations close!
