In an early session we heard McKinsey outline their view of long-term mega-trends.  These ranged from the impact of differing world demographics and economies that point towards eventual convergence between the GDPs of Asia and Europe in some 15 years time; the concomitant pressure on commodities and natural resources especially water as consumption rapidly grows; to trends that have a more direct impact on business.  Steria is already seeing and shaping some of these latter business changes, working with clients to redefine corporate boundaries and embrace extended supply chains – both organisationally and geographically. more

India might soon become the first country in the world to deliver e-governance services to citizens using cloud-based IT services. The
government is having a dialogue with the apex software industry body, Nasscom, on how to roll out e-governance services using this emerging technology, which fast gaining acceptance among enterprises for its affordability and ability to address large numbers of transactions. “A collaboration on e-governance via cloud technologies may include 90% of the citizen services, which have not yet been rolled out. It will also make project execution faster,” R Chandrashekhar, secretary for IT, ministry of it and communications, told ET in an exclusive interview. more

The session with Professor David Garwin at NILF last evening was testimony to the fact that, you can be extremely funny while being extremely clever. The professor’s stories had the audience cracking up frequently – if he is such an accomplished performer in the classroom too, then his students are very lucky.   more
